We have been overwhelmed by the response received since earlier this year, when Big Eyes head honcho, Yani, asked our extended Big Eyes fam, you guys, to share your sneakers with us by using the hashtag #BigEyesLittleSoles.
With almost 3,000 snaps now amongst the selection, from your beaters to your box fresh and your OGs to your holy grails, we LOVE feasting our eyes on your crepes and dishing them out for all to drool over. We can’t wait to see more over the next year as the Big Eyes crew continues to grow, but for now, here are our favourite uploads of the bunch from 2012…
As if Yani hadn’t got us all super-stupid-excited enough as it is, with her post confirming that the Nike Air Max 90 Hyperfuse Infrared release is this coming Friday… we’ve now got another reason to get giddy, as Size? are offering the chance to win a pair of these fresssh kicks!
Head over to Size?’s Twitter post here for details of how to enter – I already have!
No spelling mistakes, you all know what this post is going to be about…
Nike Air Max 90 Hyperfuse QS ‘White/Cement Grey-Infrared-Black’
I was so upset when I knew I wouldn’t have a chance at getting my hands on a pair of the Crooked Tongues Infra Hyperfuse’s, now I’m still a little sad as I have a feeling these might not drop in my size either.. Even though these are QS, I have a feeling we’ll be seeing a good handful of you lucky average size footed people out there wearing them.
Remember, these are only going to be available in limited numbers so don’t sleep on the release this Friday.. Pick yours up at Size? Send us pics to Instagram, Facebook or Twitter!
I met our next interviewee through mutual friends a couple of years ago in Croatia at Outlook Festival and we regularly bump into each other at various events and nights out. She always has amazing trainers on, so I thought what better than to ask her more about them and share it with you all! Name/Occupation?
Alice Moxom aka Moxie
DJ/ Promoter/ Artist First sneakers you ever bought?
They were a pair of Adidas Gazelle kicks in suede navy blue. I remember having these in Primary school and loved them so much I bought about 3 pairs of them total. Is there a particular sneaker that sticks out from your youth?
In school It was all about having a pair of Nike TN, Nike Air Max 90 or a pair of Nike Air Max 95′s. I remember when the TN dropped my mum was going to NY for a trip and I begged her to bring me back a pair from Footlocker that hadn’t arrived in London yet. She ended up buying me a pair with a light blue fade and then the swirly plastic bit at the bottom was navy blue. I will never forgot how excited I was when she bought them back, it made my year!
What’s your favourite pair of sneakers of all time and why?
You can’t beat a Nike Air Max 90. They will always remain a classic right from my teens till now. Especially the Infrared kick, nothing can beat that colourway! Staple everyday pair in your collection and why?
My plum coloured blazers. Standard. They go with everything and they look smart so you can wear them for a meeting or out raving, either way they always work. I also have them in baby blue, black & stone grey. Definitely my favourite trainer for the past few years. Beaters or best for raves?
Completely depends on where I’m going but some kicks will only be worn for social occasions such as my baby blue Blazers which I only wear in Summer time. I do own a pair of Nike Air max which I’ve had for about 7 years now and they are my raving trainers. They still look brand new as the main body of them is a plastic material so I can just wipe them down when I get back from a rave. Plus they look dope as they are black, pink and blue colour way.
I fully regret not buying the dark grey Blazers that dropped last year. Sadly I wasn’t quick enough and they all sold out :( Latest purchase?
Nike Free Run. These are my new fave kicks! They are so unbelievably comfortable and they’re the first running shoes I’ve ever owned. Definitely recommend buying a pair.
Your Nike Free Run’s aren’t just any regular pair, what’s the story behind these?
Recently I took part in a Nike X NTS run and because I’m a dj for NTS radio I was offered a free pair of Nike ID’s. I thought I’d use this opportunity to get some kicks that I wouldn’t usually buy as usually I’d go for a classic such as an Air Max. I’m so pleased I chose the Nike Free Run as they are the most comfortable trainers I have ever worn! I decided on the pink because that’s my favourite colour and the lime green because it would pop next to the pink and the grey/ black colourway. Of course I had to get Moxie written on the tongue as with all my ID’s! I initially got these for running but because I love them so much I might just save them for when I’m out and about and buy a new pair for running.
Favourite sneaker stores?
I wish I could say I have one. I find sneaker shopping really hard as i rarely find a pair that i love. Usually the mens colour ways are the ones I want but they never seem to do them in my size. We need more sneaker shops for girls! My heart broke when they stopped selling smaller sizes in Size? Most memorable sneaker experience?
Something else I remember so clearly from school was how some of my mates would fold a sock up and stick it behind the tongue of their Nike Air Max 90s to make it pop more. It was all about adding those extra touches and trying to make your trainers stand out as much as possible.
Couldn’t think of any other title than the one above, as seeing those words made my jaw drop yesterday.
Nike SB Koston 1 x AM90 ‘Infrared’
As you can see from the teaser photo which surfaced yesterday, this isn’t just a retro of the well loved colourway on one of my favourite silhouettes. Skate pro/sneaker designer Eric Koston has pulled out all the stops turning what many will call their grail, into something even more special!
To turn this runner into a skate shoe, suede has been added.. but other than that and the obvious branding differences, who knows if there will be any big changes to the shoe itself. We can only wait until all is revealed. Rest assured, Big Eyes will have the big news as soon as we hear it!
When I started Big Eyes, I wrote about how AM90 Infrared’s were my grail sneaker.. Although I own a couple of pairs now, I’m still really excited about this new drop! Nike has released a JD Exclusive AM90 with a new take on the Infrared colourway that we all know and love.
Nike Air Max 90 ‘White/Dark Shadow/Red’
As you can see, these are a slightly toned down version to my grails, but they’re still pretty perfect. On this shoe, the black mudguard has been exchanged for one in ‘dark shadow’ which really sets off the red branding.. especially on the heel tab.
If my birthday present was anything to go by, it’s clear to see that a red sole is something that I’ll always be drawn towards. There’s no explaining it, I just love a red sole and these have exactly that!
Get yours from JD Sports only and lucky for some of you ladies.. they run from a UK6!
As I’m sure you know by now, the annual Crooked Tongues BBQ took place on Sunday. Throughout the day, Crooked Tongues ran a competition where they asked BBQ attendees to tweet a picture of the kicks they wore that day. Winners were treated to an exclusive pair of the Hyperfuse Air Max 90 Infrared! Sadly these aren’t available to buy, but check out the pics below!
