Rinse Presents: Roska 2

Roska’s weekly Rinse FM podcasts and his appearance at Lovebox festival provided the perfect soundtrack to my summer last year, so I was extremely pleased to get my hands on his second full-length EP, aptly titled, Roska 2.

Released on Rinse FM’s imprint, Rinse Presents, Roska 2 is a 10-track blend of heavy bass, sweet vocals, and good vibes. Kicking off with You Dun Know – a track I’ve heard at various clubs over the last 10 or so months and can’t get enough of. I think I love this track so much because it works perfectly in any situation, be it at a club or while you’re chilling out at home (or in my case, having a nervous breakdown over uni coursework).

Roska 2 experiments with a variety of sounds, reflecting his growth as a producer. Memories feat. Ruby Goe and OnRinseSinceZeroEight are two tracks that tilt over to the bouncy, electro side of the spectrum, but perfectly compliment heavier tracks such as Go featuring Mz Bratt and Spanner In The Works featuring Swindle and Funtcase, which close the album.

Track four, Do You Like This featuring Jamie George has already gained popularity over the Rinse FM circuit and, along with tracks five and seven The Oracle and Badman featuring Sweetie Irie – weighty tunes, inspired by Roska’s UK Funky roots – are set to be huge hits this summer.

Roska 2 is a great follow up to his previous releases and the ultimate warm up to summer raving. Catch him at this year’s Lovebox festival and every Tuesday 7pm-9pm on Rinse 106.8FM.

A Classic Update

The Nike Air Max Classic BW is the latest silhouette to get the Vac Tech treatment and I have to say, I think it’s my favourite VT offering so far. Available in two colourways, the VT element gives the shoe a clean, streamlined look.

Nike Air Max Classic BW VT – Anthracite/White

The suede uppers look so smooth! The rich orange accents on the heel and air unit against the white really set this shoe off.

Nike Air Max Classic BW VT – Wolf Grey/White

Wolf grey really is that perfect shade of grey. It looks great on any silhouette, on either a sunny or a rainy day and these BWs are no exception (although, you wouldn’t want those suede uppers out in the rain). The navy accents give this shoe a bit of a softer feel, compared to the kicks above. I love how the branding on the tongue is barely visible but really stands out on the heel.

Both pairs of these beasts are available from Titolo!

Hot Punch

Nike’s ‘Hot Punch’ colour has been creeping up in WMNS colourways for a little while now (check it on AM90s and AM1s), and the brand have used it again for a bright, bold, block-coloured Air Max 95!

Nike WMNS Air Max 95 Hot Punch/Storm Pink-White

There’s absolutely nothing subtle about these kicks. A white air unit, sole, lining and trim around the Swoosh tactfully break up this perfect, feminine but not too girly shade of pink. It can be seen from a mile off and is guaranteed to brighten up any outfit!

Keep it Big Eyes for stockist updates!

It’s All In The Detail

Last week’s temporary taste of warm weather has sent me on a hunt to find the perfect Summer sneakers. I love block-coloured shoes and I love really fine detailing. So these kicks from Converse are right up my street!

Converse All Star Reform – Black, Grey & White

When I think of mesh, I immediately think of Nike Air Max but the All Star Hi silhouette suites mesh uppers perfectly. It’s such a light, breathable material it almost screams out Summer!

Bright, piping around the midsole keep the shoe vibrant, while the clear logo on the heel gives it a nice, clean finish.

Converse All-Star Hi ‘Panama Hat’ – Brown & Beige

Available in neutral, earthy, brown and beige colours, the Panama Hat All Stars feature woven uppers against a traditional white rubber midsole. I’ve never really been one for hats so Panama detailing on my kicks is the next best thing!

The beige installment really remind me of last year’s Tier Zero Nike x Maharam Zoom Tennis Classic!

Head over to your nearest Converse retailers to cop yours!

AVE + Dill x Vans = Dope!

Leather? Check. Snakeskin? Check. Leopard Print? Check.

No, this isn’t a look inside the late, great Pat Butcher’s wardrobe, it’s the Spring 2012 collab from Vans and pro skaters Jason Dill and Anthony Van Engelen!

The three-piece Syndicate ‘S’ collection of low top sneaks features the Authentic Pro ‘S’, the Old Skool ’92 Pro ‘S’ and the Sk8-Low ‘S’. Each of the shoes feature premium leathers, pigskin linings and AVE and Dill’s Scorpio logo on the footbed. Check the pictures below!

Authentic Pro ‘S’

All faux snakeskin everything! I love how bold the print is but also the way the silver, black and white colours keep it quite subtle.

Old Skool ’92 Pro ‘S’

I think these might be the closest I’m ever going to get to the Leopard Sk8-His (check Yani’s pair here), but i’m not mad at it! The leather on these looks so luxe and the furry faux leopard print contrasts against it so nicely.

Sk8-Low Pro ‘S’

Last but certainly not least, these are all about the detail. A modest black and white shoe on the outside, these beasts feature both snakeskin and leopard print on the inside lining!

Available in limited numbers in store at Slam City Skates, Supreme London and Premier

Summer of ’97

The weather has been really summery today and for some reason summertime always makes me think of Air Max 97s, so I think it’s the perfect opportunity to post these…

Nike Air Max 97 CVS Black & Sport Red

The Air Max 97 is such a simple, slick, classic silhouette and I love seeing updated versions. These particular beasts feature a block-coloured canvas base against a bright white midsole. Both the classic long air bubble unit and the heal branding are a Metallic Silver, which I think gives them a nice bit of femininity. Check out more pics below!

I can’t resist a black sneaker and these are no exception!

Next up, the Sport Red…

This red is sure to turn heads! Bright colours are perfect for sunny days and the red on red tongue branding and Swoosh keeps the shoe looking really neat and fresh.

Both of these kicks are availble from Titolo!

While we’re on the theme of summer and 97…

Deviation x50
