Diamond Jubilee? It’s all about this 20th Anniversary…!

1992 saw the birth of the Vans Half Cab, 3 years after Steve Caballero’s signature kicks, the Caballero, were released. After seeing that many street-skaters were rocking a ‘cut-down’ version and then proceeding to try it for himself, Caballero decided to pitch the idea to Vans, which resulted in the production of the classic Half Cab.

Following the success of the timeless silhouette, after various re-inventions and collaborations, we are now treated to the 20th Anniversary Half Cab Collection, featuring 5 colour ways so far. All pairs sport a smart ‘20th Anniversary’ patch in place of the original on both the side panel and tongue, and come in a commemorative box in celebration of the 20 year mark.

The first to be released were the Black edition after being cleverly made from the original Cabarello trainer, using the inspiration which allowed for the creation of the Half Cab to begin with. Limited to just 20 pairs sold exclusively through Supreme, personally hand-cut, duct-taped and signed all by Mr Caballero himself, you would be super-lucky to get your mitts on a pair of these!

Geared to drop one at a time, 4 further limited edition colourways have been confirmed to be released monthly, each of them being one of the most iconic of the OG Half Cab colours, based on various covers of Thrasher magazine. Whilst we are still awaiting for the Forest Green, Beige and possibly more to be announced, you can already cop the Butterscotch and White colours over at Native Skatestore and Concept.

Keep it Big Eyes for further details, but for now you can enjoy this History of the Half Cab video:
